I don't think you're correct here. A WAWB situation is usually a perfect opportunity for controlling the size of the pot. If you're ahead, you let your opponent continue to fire. If you're behind, you invest as few chips as possible.

The problem with this specific hand is he doesn't have enough chips to take this line. If he calls pre-flop there's no way he can fold when flopping top pair, or making two pair. But if the stacks were deeper keeping the pot small is not bad.
