Chick coming to visit me in Boston: What to do?

If she's really outdoorsy you can take here somewhere up on the North Shore. I've been to Rockport a few times and enjoyed it. There's a small village with shopping and places to eat. You can get there on the Commuter Rail out of North Station. As a plus you can stop at Manchester-by-the-Sea on the way back and go to the beach.

You could also try Walden Woods but I'm not sure about public transportation up there.
