When I was 5 or 6, I loved the mid 80s Cards teams. Coleman, Herr, Mcgee, Ozzie, etc. Anyway, fast forward to like 1998. I'm playing in an internet gin league and someone tells me that one of the players is Tommy Herr. I get really excited that I get to play with one of my baseball heros as a kid. We play some and talk a little bit. He shows me family photos, tells a few Cards stories...very cool. Very nice guy, but his life was really in the shitter at that point. Hope things have turned around for him since.

Also IIRC, at the time he held some record for RBI/HR ratio for a single season.
