[ QUOTE ]
Or, you could go to the other extreme and pretty much just assume that all of them are doping, and recognize that they are still putting forth pretty heroic efforts. Doping or no, Landis's big stage last year was crazy and awesome. I'm generally sick of the hand-wringing about doping in all of the different sports, so I'm pretty much in a place where I don't care about it anymore. [/ QUOTE ] Yes, that stage was awesome, but it has surely been somewhat diminished in the aftermath; as has Basso's Giro. Mostly what I am saying is I don't want it to be diminished, whether that is because they don't dope, or they don't get caught, I really don't care so much. I agree with your statement though, and is pretty much my view. Although I would obviously prefer that they are not doping, what bothers me even more, is that it seems some get caught and some don't. It's almost like a crap shoot, which does not make sense. I wish they could either come up with a close to 100% test to detect any doping, or forget it all together and pretty much just concede it is part of the sport, i.e., dope if you want, or don't if you don't want to. Although this later option would not be ideal, it would be much better, in my opinion, than the half-assed controls they currently use which seem to, every once in awhile, catch a doper, while, for the most part, not so much. |
