What lessons for liberty can we learn from peanut butter?

In my opinion peanut butter represents a great illustration of the clash between the concepts of positive and negative liberty. In theory, the peanut segments are free to do as they choose, but it takes the assistance of someone with a knife (and their money etc.) - positive liberty - to lift them out of the goo and give them te opportunity of freedom. However, as they are subsequently eaten, could this mean that the 'enacting' of positive liberty too often results in the exploitation of those 'liberated' by their liberator - perhaps a reflection on the 'means test' in the current welfare state?
