Default Re: The 10 college players I was most wrong about

"
I noticed that you never responded to my challenge to find any play online in which Carmelo couldn't run it well from the 2 spot...why is that?"

Because it's irrelevant, and also obviously any play that sets up an open three fits the bill. But again, you run plays of that sort for people who can shoot, regardless of position. Plays run for Carmelo would tend to have him end up close to the basket for a layup or short jumper. Offensive assignments are mostly unrelated to position with the exception of point guard. We both know this.

"Do you really think I'd just refuse to listen to him and say "No, they're all wide receivers! Go look it up...they're all listed as WRs and when I listen to the tv the announcers use the term wide receivers for all of them. So you must be wrong!" Because thats what you're doing here. "

To continue the football analogy, a lot of teams have fast pass-catching RBs who will at times line up at the slot, or go into motion into a WR spot. That doesn't mean every RB is a WR, it means that some RBs have the skill set to be used as a WR in some situations. Carmelo would not play the 1 or 2 for any team in the NBA. Calling him a guard is wrong.

Your DII team may have ran a 3 guard offense. It's not uncommon in college for a team to list three guards. Ohio State listed three starting guards, for example. But the Denver Nuggets do not. As they are the final arbiters of what position Carmelo Anthony plays, I'm completely willing to let George Karl(whose basketball resume may even trump yours!) tell me who plays what.

Also, I recognize plays and sets too. Most serious fans of the game do. You aren't that special, and I flatly refuse to accept you(or really anyone) as an authority on basketball just because.

And I was originally not that upset that you called him a guard, I was upset because of the [censored] you tried to pull with the FG%. For a wing, his offensive game relies more on interior scoring than most. His FG% should be higher than Gilbert Arenas'. You do that kind of [censored] constantly with stats and it really bothers me, because you're obviously intentionally being dishonest. You don't need to play games with the stats to prove Carmelo Anthony is good at basketball, Assani.
