During rush hour, 95 sucks in both directions. Midday its really not horrendous. If you leave at like 10am its tolerable. Also, in times of traffic the Hutch/Merrit/Wilber Cross (it changes names a couple of times) is without a doubt better. You can take that, use the connection just below New Haven and then go. I've never had a cop problem driving from New Haven to and from Foxwoods in the 75-80 mph range and I used to make that drive all the time in college.
