Smith has made a boatload of mistakes at 3rd. I can't see why we can't find someone better for that spot. Everyone wants to blame Manuel, but it seems he has very little direct control over plays like this.

I fully blame Manuel for this. It was Manuel's decision to fire Bombard who was a much better third base coach (well not that it takes much). The problem was Bombard and Varsho would give Manuel suggestions, Manuel would ignore them, then when everything would blow up Maunuel would act all confused.

Bombard was also a very successful minor league manager with alot of these guys and Manuel saw him as a threat.
