Default Help me lose my 40 year old body shape. How much will running help???

Iam 25 5 10" ~185lbs. none of which is muscle. i used to be really active in sports in college and before. for the last couple years ive really done nothing but sit in front of the computer and golf. i started to run alittle bit last summer/fall maybe 2 miles or so a night, until i broke my ankle being a drunk retard. i want to start running again (have a few times this week) so i can lose my gut. ive been told i look like an old man. iam not really into going to the gym and weight training its all too boring for me. i dont care to be big, but wouldnt mind alittle tone somewhere. abs/chest

So my question is..

how far /often do i have to run to start to see results? i plan on running twice a day, about 2.5 miles on each side of my poker playing. ive always eaten like crap, but have been getting better recently. i have no idea how many calories or anything i consume a day. how likely is running like this alone going to make a noticable difference. what if i throw in a few other exercises a couple times a week. push ups / abs.
