Default Ultimate Guide to Vegas

With the WSOP right around the corner and many of us heading out to the desert for over a month many of us realize that this could be a long time to be in "Sin City". As poker players we know that balance is the key to a good poker game and this rings true in life. While you are out there make sure to enjoy yourself and exercise and get outside (in the heat) too. We will all have our cliques out there that we see more then anyone else and it will come down to these groups to make sure everyone stays balanced, healthy, and has fun. Trust me it can only help your results on the felt. Here is a huge list of outdoor things, as well as poker rooms and poker tournaments.

[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Outdoor Activities
[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Basketball, Tennis, Baseball<ul type="square">[*]Sunset Park - One of the largest parks in Las Vegas, it is popular for festivals and picnics. Eight outdoor lighted tennis courts, baseball fields, basketball courts, picnic areas with barbeques, dog runs, and even peace and quiet can be found here. There also is a fishing pond, popular mostly with children. The fishing is year-round, and in winter the pond is stocked with rainbow trout, and catfish in summer. There is a three-fish limit, and children under 12 do not need a fishing license.
[*]Venetian DeepStack - Did you know that the Venetian will be running their Deep Stack Extravaganza II from June 1st through July 1st with buy-ins ranging from $330 to $1060. The games included are HORSE, No Limit Holdem, Limit Holdem, Pot Limit Omaha, and Omaha 8/b. Last year, the Venetian held the DPS I and it went over extremely well with fields in getting into the 400 entry range. More details and contact information can be found here: http://www.venetian.com/VenetianEng/...deepstack2.pdf
[*]Binion's Poker Classic - Do you remember Binion’s? Yeah, that little place that used to own the rights to and held the World Series of Poker for 28 years before Harrahs purchased it and moved it to the Rio. Well they’re back this summer as well in a big way. Now introducing the 1st Annual Binion’s Poker Classic starting on May 31st and running daily events through July 4th. The buy ins will range from $100 through $1000 with games such as 7 Stud, No Limit Holdem, Stud 8/b, Omaha 8/b, Pot Limit Omaha, Limit Holdem, 2-7 Tripple Draw, HORSE, Short Handed (6 handed) No Limit Holdem, Pot Limit Omaha 8/b. [*]Bellagio Cup III - Now, onto the Bellagio. The Bellagio Cup III is on the schedule for June 11 to July 24th with buy ins starting as low as $1500 and a three day main event with a $10,300 buy-in. The turnouts were reportedly pretty good last year for this event and with virtually no competition during this time period, it’s almost a given that the fields will be comparable, if not larger than last years 200-400 player ranges. Satellites and super satellites will also be available to players daily. For more information:http://www.cardplayer.com/tournaments/event_list/913
[*]The Orleans Open - The Orleans Open is an extremely popular series of tournaments that directly after the time the WSOP concludes at the Rio. The series starts July14th and runs through July 29th of this year. Some of the events include No Limit Holdem, Limit Holdem, Omaha 8, Stud, Stud 8, Seniors No Limit Holdem, and a LIPPS Ladies No Limit Holdem. The buy-ins range from $120 up to $1050.
