I believe, if u just rename: emptybox (emptybox_org), there will be no image where an empty seat is. I prefer a barely visible image, same as I like for joining a table.

I use dark backgrounds, so I replaced my: seatrt_join, and emptybox files with different, less distracting seat squares. There are lots of similar seat squares, much earlier in this thread

This is the one I use:
