I don't even have a stars account but am guessing what N decribes is simply copying and renaming the stars client executable. The client probably checks the list of running processes and sees if it already exists. Full disclosure is definitely the way to go here as stars has little incentive to fix it without publicity.

The obvious goal is to find a way to get around the inability to run multiple instances concurrently. There are multiple ways to do it, all of which should be obvious to Stars. The issue is how to block these attempts... and I don't know how to do that or if it's even possible.

Maybe instead of assuming it can't be done you should notify the site and let people that are experts and paid to deal with this kind of problem figure it out.

IMO you come with a lot of statements about what YOU assume or think.
Believe it or not, there are plenty of intelligent people in these forums that don't like very much that other (obviously also intelligent people as you give the impression to be) keep telling them that the only think that matters is what you assume. (like you did trying to justify ZJ and now your knowledge about cheating methods)

I might have completely misunderstood you here as I don't know you at all, but I assure you that this is the impression you are giving to posters that are not familiar with your way of thinking.
