In the genre of strategy books, the Harrington/Robertie series is an easy vote. The quality of the writing in terms of clarity, organization, flow, humor and the basic communication of an idea is extraordinary. I sense that Bill Robertie doesn't get anywhere near the acknowledgment he should for his contribution to poker.
In terms of prose, John Updike and Herbert Yardley come to mind though that vote is influenced by their non-poker works. |
