Great story, thanks for posting.
Also, a clarification is in order. It's obvious that most of you on this board use the terms 'poker' and 'NLHE' interchangeably. This may come as a shock to many of you, but there are other games besides HE! I guess that's what TV did to poker. Most of the top live pros are proficient in many forms of poker. Most of the top online pros are HE specialists (mostly NL, but some Limit as well). A few top online guys dabble in PLO, but few are all-around poker players. Thus, it may not be fair to compare your best game to someone else's 2nd or 3rd best game, and then declare yourself to be the better "poker player". Make no mistake -- if any of the online pros sat in the Big Game, where they had to play a half dozen forms of poker (or more), mostly Limit besides, they'd get their house cleaned. In fact, they'd be the standout donkeys in the game. The best *poker* players in the world can be found in the Big Game. Not online. That said, I think the toughest Hold'em games are found online. I think a lot of good live HE players would find the going a lot tougher if they had to grind online (like they'd have to move down in limits to win consistently). Granted, HSP is within the context of NLHE, but misuse of the term 'poker' has always been one of my pet peeves. thiamide |
