I don't issue ultimatums to my friends that involve destroying their lives and their trust for me. I politely state my disagreement and let them decide for themselves what the correct thing is to do.

Then at the VERY LEAST, you should refuse to be friends with such persons in the future and have no willing contact with them. To do otherwise gives reinforcement to their actions. But I know, you are too cowardly even for that.
