It wasn't corked you !@&%$%*&, it had some pine tar on it. And Billy Martin knew about it all year but waited until Brett had a big hit in a key situation to call it AFTERWARDS. The rule was not intended to call people out after they had gotten a big hit. It was intended to keep the balls clean. The pine tar added exactly nothing to the flight of the ball. And the league ultimately ruled as such.
