[ QUOTE ]
I can't imagine the Eagles even thinking about a QB unless they were ridiculously high on one of the guys thinking he was the next Brady. Feeley and Holcomb are decent to good backups. It would be nice to have someone a little better since it's possible McNabb is coming off injury, but Feeley has proven he can play in the system and their supporting cast around him should help (if he keeps the #2 spot that is). The Eagles have much bigger needs at LB, WR, and getting depth at safety to waste a first or even second day pick on a QB they aren't sure of when they have McNabb. [/ QUOTE ] I agree with this almost entirely, except for one thing. The Eagles do not have a need at WR. Brown is shaping up to be a solid Z receiver. He'll be a number one threat for years to come. Curtis is a bit of a question mark, but he should do everything Stallworth did, without the risk of injury. He's as fast and has better hands. Then they have youth with Baskett and Avant, who can both play the slot. Basically the only knock on Avant is his speed, but he doesn't need great speed to fit in at the Z or Y. Greg Lewis is a reliable 4th or 5th receiver, and one of either Jeremy bloom or Bethel Johnson will make the team as a KR/5th or 6th receiver. The oldest player in this group is 29, and that's Curtis. They have a lot of youth and talent at that position. That said, if they get a good value on a receiver at somepoint in the draft, then yeah, it makes sense to draft him (as long as it's not in the first two rounds). Sorry for the rant. I'll probably have a full mock up sometime next week. |
