oooh, two strawmen - you put a lot of effort into this one.

no, and no. however given the common usage of closers in the past 20 years, and given the save statistic - that's the way things are handled. torre obviously places an inordinate value on the 'save' - thinking it something real instead of something invented - however closers are going to want to get the ball in the save situation because that's how they're programmed as well and that's how they see their peers getting paid.

as i said, it's not worth getting upset about, because it's not changing - and that's the real key here.
