Let me preface this by saying that I don't have near the experience of AJ or some of the other tournament players who have already commented.
If you are so sure you are ahead of his range, I don't get why you don't push pf. If you know that his range is as large as you described it, then push preflop. He would have to laydown almost anything but AA-QQ. Because the hands he will fold seem to comprise about 90% of his range in your eyes, I don't get why you wouldn't want to pick up 9k right there.
