Default Re: Take a Look at 2+2\'s Future Design

I used to want sigs so I could have some smart-alecky thing to say at the bottom of each post.

But when I look at other forums that have sigs I think they are really distracting and annoying. Probably because I'm just used to 2+2 with no sigs. But it just seems like they lengthen every thread unnecessarily and make them more difficult to navigate.

There is one forum I'm on that has a pretty tiny font at the very bottom for the sigs. And these don't seem to be nearly as distracting.
You get to post your little smart-alecky thing AND it doesn't confuse any reader into thinking it is somehow part of their post (which is what it looks like on other forums).

To my knowledge, the original reason for banning the sigs was because too many were using it for spam and rakeback ads, etc.
Well, that was also before we had 100 or so moderators patrolling around too. I don't think the original reason is relevant anymore because anyone with spam in their sig is going to be noticed by a mod pretty quickly.

So that leaves us with the question of whether the sigs take up too much space I guess.
Not sure whether they do or don't, especially in the new design.
But I've definitely learned to live without them and think it's easier to have the whole thread in front of you relatively distraction-free.
