What was going on with that hand between Clonie and Tony?
With the blinds at 150/300, Clonie makes it 900 from the button with AA and Tony calls in the BB with Q6. Flop is Qxx with two spades. Tony checks, Clonie bets 1200, Tony checkraises to 3000, Clonie calls. Pot is now about 8k, Clonie has only 12k behind, Tony covers. Turn is a red K. Tony checks, Clonie thinks and eventually shoves. Tony calls. WTF? 1) If Tony is calling a shove, why did he check the turn? To induce a bluff? Clonie hasn't bluffed once all day. She's the tightest player at the table by a factor of a million. 2) Why was Tony so confused over her bet size? Any pot-sized bet from Clonie will commit 2/3 of her stack, so she might as well shove. She can't even bet 3/4 of the pot, since that's half her stack. Any bet from her is committal, hence her slight overbet of the pot. 3) Why would he put her on spades when she raised PF and bet the flop and turn? Wouldn't she be scared of Tony's checkraise and check behind on the turn looking to catch a spade or an Ace? That hand really sucked and Clonie was lucky to double up in that spot because nobody else at the table pays her off so easily. |
