Tribeca Tables Bans U.S. Players

The Tribeca Tables Poker Network announced yesterday that it will not be accepting any more American customers. Current players in the U.S. will be locked out based on their IP addresses starting February 28.

While Tribeca was bought by Playtech and will be absorbed into Playtech’s U.S.-unfriendly iPoker network, Americans were not expected to be shutout until the merger actually took place. There is no definitive date on the merger, although some rumblings have targeted next week.

Several skins on the Tribeca network, including the popular Doyle’s Room, have been working on launching their own network that will accept U.S. players, but it looks as if they were caught by surprise by this move. The new network had been rumored to be aiming for sometime in March for launch, so Doyle’s and others very likely expected to be able to transition without having to miss U.S. players for any length of time.
