I'm defininetly anti-counting. (For myself, of course. To each their own.) I'm on the "Eat Less, Exercise More" diet. I thought about writing a few books and going on talkshows, but I pretty much only have those 4 words...
One of my pet peeves with dieters is when friends have to hear about it constantly. It's half fishing for compliments and half inconveniencing others for your own benefit. I had a good friend who was very into counting. He had a program where he input exactly what he ate and exactly how much he exercised, and it gave him forecasts and 3 or 4 line graphs, and that's all great. But when I made dinner and invited him over, he wanted to know how many tablespoons of oil I used, and whether I used skim mozzarella or whole, and so on. I was cooking the guy dinner, for goodness sake. Since most dieting is inherently vain (at least mine is), I like the fact that it's mostly an internal thing. Friends probably notice I'm having smaller meals, and that I've been exercising more, but I don't want it to take-over my life (and I sure as hell don't want it to take-over theirs.) -Sam |
