Recently Eurobet/OnGame froze my poker account, then after a month finally closed (eliminated) it. Problem is, there was still nearly $5k in there. The purpose of this post is to find out what if anything I can do about it now.
Bit of a saga: first they (OnGame's Shoot-First-Ask-Questions-Later Security Department) froze my account on a charge of chip-dumping, which I challenged through the Eurobet poker manager, and was quickly cleared. 'Cos I've never done that. OnGame seems unaware that headsup poker (which I play exclusively) often by definition leads to one of two people either winning or losing lots of money. Duh! Anyway, I was duly cleared and my account unfrozen. But it was frozen almost immediately again when I simply requested a $10k cashout. It remained that way for a month, during which they (Eurobet/OnGame -- I don't think even they always know who's who) demanded and I sent in various ID documentation. Finally -- and this to me the strangest part -- they closed the account but processed that $10k cashout, leaving around $5k still in there. Of course during this whole process Eurobet/OnGame hardly ever let me know anything, and I have no idea on what grounds they closed it, except that they say I failed a "security check". Oh thanks! Way to let a guy defend himself. Eurobet customer service is useless, and says there's nothing "more" they can do. Oh -- except they did give me the contact details for some gambling commission in the Channel Islands (i.e. offshore UK). Cute. Like after the inital account freeze when they suggested I might contact the government of Gibraltar about it. Which is about as close to saying "FU" as you can get, without actually saying it. Anyway, I'm looking for suggestions as to how I might get the remaining $5k back. Is the Eurobet poker manager any good for this type of problem? Is there any OnGame authority I can approach directly? (Actually I've been to Gibraltar and it's moderately interesting. Full of apes though, up there on the rock. Really!) |
