Default How to play an overpair

Hi all,

I'm pretty new to NL and so far it hasn't been my thing. I'm down about 15 buy ins after 50K hands, it even put me down for the year .

I have a question about playing overpairs. Today I got stacked about 10 times with AA, KK, QQ or AK. Here's an example.

Say I'm at the button with KK in a 2/4 NL game and we all have $400. There is one limper and I raise it to $18. The BB calls as does the limper. So there is about $56 in the pot and the flop comes Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. I bet out $40 and it gets raised to $120. What do you do? Fold? Call? Raise? All-in?

What if it's raised to $80? What about a Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] flop? If you call and they bet big again on the turn, now what? If you raise how much?

I know, a lot of questions but I have no clue how to play these hands after today. Sometimes I went all in today and almost every time they had a set. When I call they keep betting and end up losing most of the time. So please help me out!

Thanks,

Guido
