Preface: Since the games I was doing well in for the last 5 years seem to be drying up or getting tougher, I decided to give HU sng's a shot to see if I could hammer out a living. Shorthanded and heads up play has always been my strongsuit, so I thought I might be able to do ok. I decided to start at $50 games in the beginning and keep accurate records to see if I should go up in stakes, down in stakes, stay at the same stakes, or quit altogether.
I've played 205 games and figured this was as good a time as any to step back and see what's going on. I also thought I'd share this info with you guys because there doesn't seem to be a wealth of hard data here. I set a spreadsheet up so that when each game was over, I had to record whether I won or lost, and how long the game took. Excel did the rest. Here's what I kept track of: Game type: $50 + 2.50 heads up sit-n-go Games played: 205 Games won: 123 Games lost: 82 Win %: 60% Total time: 2293 min. (38.22 hours) Avg time/game: 11 min. Avg profit/game: $7.50 Avg profit/hour: $40.23 Total profit: $1537.50 From what I've seen here, this seems to be a decent win rate, but I realize the sample size isn't quite big enough to make any solid conclusions. I think I'm going to get to a sample size of about 500 before I decide whether to move up or not. If I keep it around 58-60%, I probably will see if I can carry that over to $100 sng's. I have a list of things that have helped me mentally in this venture that I will share, as well as some tips that have helped me win some games. Give me a little while and I'll post it in this thread. Any comments? |
