[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] I don't like any of the "tempo gaining" moves attacking the queen. White's queen is not currently on a very good square (it attacks none of our weaknesses and blocks the dark squared bishop from getting to d4 where it would blockade our pawn and radiate power on both sides of the board), so I'd just let it be. I like Qe7 here, with the ideas of Qe4 (moving in on the light squares) or Rd8 with the intention of advancing the pawn. [/ QUOTE ] 17...Qe7 for the ballot too? OK, make your case. 17...Qe7 18.Bb2 Qe4+ 19.Kg1 Qf3? Maybe 19...Qg4 intending Qh3? This might be good. [/ QUOTE ] OK... 17...Qe7 18.Bb2 Qe4+ 19.Kg1 Qg4 White goes 20.Qd3 and you dont have time for 20...Qh3 because of 21.Bxf6 gxf6 22.Qxd5. I don't see any good moves for Black here, 20...Ne4 21.f3 Nc5 22.Qxd5, any other knight move White just goes 21.Qxd5, or 21.Bxf6 on most other moves. On 19...Qf3 I don't see how you are really penetrating since you can't move the knight yet. 20.Rad1 and now what? 20...Rac8 and now 21.Qd3 again with similar problems. So 19...Qf5 20.Rad1 Rac8 (20...Qh3 21.Rxd5) 21.Qd3 Or 19...Rac8. This is the only way I see to maybe improve on 17...Rac8. Maybe there is something here but I'm not sure it's better than 17...Rac8. |
