[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] cody, 7 years old/owner of that couch [/ QUOTE ] Gary - What are your experiences with your shepherd? I'm really considering buying one, but I am a single 23 yr-old who will always have different people coming over and I heard they are really over-protective and don't like strangers. [/ QUOTE ] this is kinda true. he lives with my family (i'm away at college and miss him everyday )and he's super-protective when he's with my mom or sister and other people are around. he hasn't bitten anyone and i could only see him doing that if one of us were being directly threatened, but he certainly does know how to intimidate with his bark and growling. he's a great dog when he's just around our family or around people he knows and has gotten used to but i'm not sure he'd be a great dog for your situation(he is however extremely obediant whenever my dad is around..(and to some extent me), so that when new people come to our house he's always alert but almost never agressive). though i hear female shepards are much more dossile and passive so you may want to consider that option. |
