The point is that there is way, way, way more to Christianity than just the Bible. Modern American (and Global Southern) biblical fundamentalism aside, just knowing what the Bible says is not the be all and end all. In fact, you can know quite a bit about Christianity without knowing your way around a Bible--certainly more than someone whose entire knowledge of Christianity comes solely from studying the Bible.
