Fine, how do you say New Orleans (I know, not the capital) if you say it New Or - leans (three distinct syllables) as I hear the stupid newscasters/ sports guys say it, you're wrong. My wife is from down there and no one says it that way. It's one world :na'owlins. this drives me nuts.

You got me there. I was watching Spike Lee being interviewed by Charlie Rose and they were pronouncing it two different ways.

All of the pronounciations are bastardizations of the original French pronounciation anyway. I say Orlens, but most Canadians I've heard say Orleens. Spike Lee was saying Orleens.
