When I go out to eat, I usually tip 20% of the bill. Dealers are exceptionally gifted and talented individuals who work much harder than waiters, so I will usually tip them 33% instead of the 20% that I give to waiters.
If I win a hand and the rake is $3, I will tip 33%, or $1. In your case, you were not charged any rake on this hand, so I don't understand why you are tipping at all. Your tip says that the dealer was 100X more deserving on that hand than on others and other people think that the dealer was 1,000X more deserving. This makes no sense to me.
I reduce all tips if the service is bad and refuse to tip anyone who begs or tries to make me feel guilty about tipping. This is standard across all service providers including taxi drivers, valets, waiters, dealers, etc.
