[ QUOTE ]
excellent interview. my reaction was, "such a badass." must be nice to 'grind it out at 200/400 NL,' as another posted said. i tend to want people to stfu when they inject political arguments into non-political topics. actors do this constantly and i wish they'd all stfu regardless of their views. but i have to say you saw it coming given his past. no complaints, though. when he won his 2003 wsop bracelet he bashed the iraq war and that was at a time when so-called "patriotism" (aka jingoism) was rampant in this country. that was pretty brave of him, and you have to respect that. it's so trendy now to be anti-bush and especially anti-war but he's been that way all along. agree or disagree, opposing views are often stifled in this country, and maybe he didn't pick the right/best venue for his speech, but he still expressed a very unpopular opinion at the time and didn't give a [censored] what others thought of him or his beliefs. [/ QUOTE ] I'm definently no war hawk, believe me. I believe going into Iraq was a mistake. But I cringe at these very same people like Friedman who huff and puff with anti-war and anti-Bush rhetoric, but they would also sit on their hands and keep their traps shut when thugs like Pol Pot, Saddam Hussein, and Robert Mugabe slaughter people. Friedman is just another in a long line of patently absurd phonies. |
