If AC wins he falls just short of WSOP POTY, lol. Kinda gay.

Why? POY represents the best player in all the tournaments. If the ME champ always won it, there would be no point in having the award at all.

Madsen's results:

buyin . entrants . finish . POY points
2000 . . . 670 . . . 3 . . . . 640
2000 . . .1579 . . . 1 . . . . 960
5000 . . . 507 . . . 1 . . . .1440
1000 . . . 788 . . . 3 . . . . 640

Cunningham:

5000 . . . .81 . . . 6 . . . . 128
1000 . . . 752 . . . 1 . . . .1440

Cunningham would need 2112 points to catch Madsen. It seems odd that the ME with almost 9000 players isn't worth at least 50% more than a regular WSOP event.

What is the logic behind the POY points system anyway?
