If someone's smart, they can find a way to lightly sprinkle in the fancy vocabulary when it's apropos or even necessary to convey your thoughts. When it's laid on too thick, it comes off as elitist, pretentious, and tedious. Too much of this good thing is definitely bad, and I agree with you.

Anacardo, you're clearly a smart guy with capable wit, but sometimes less is more. Especially on internet forums (see: my pretentious use of apropos in lieu of appropriate).
