Default Nit calls pit

Point Edward 5/10, main table. The table is filled with 7 or 8 regulars consistently begging for additional seats to be filled, and taking walks fairly often. Tonight was the first time I've seen the fourth man walking rule invoked. Suffice to say that this was a painfully slow game.

Anyway, old regular Roger asks the waitress to deliver a Stella to Jerry. He spots her bringing a Sterling to the wrong person and causes a big fuss. The dealer, knowing exactly who Jerry actually is, tries to get the waitress to take the beer to the right person. After wasting a whole bunch of everybody's time, the waitress ends up leaving the beer with Roger for him to deal with it himself. Roger plays out the current hand from the BB and decides to miss his SB to deliver the beer to Jerry.

He returns two orbits later and comes back on his BB. Nit across the table demands that he surrender his SB. Dealer demands that he surrender his SB. Roger says he doesn't have to and the floor is called. Floor says that Roger doesn't have to surrender. Nit gets annoyed and, for the first time I have ever seen, calls the pit boss. No hands are dealt while we wait for the pit. Finally, she comes over and explains that Roger does not have to surrender. Action finally continues at its painfully slow pace.

Does Roger have to surrender the SB?
