I don't think it's a matter of being inflexible, just being reasonable. Let's say I invite you over to my house for dinner and you plan on wearing your favorite wool sweater. Should you tell me in advacne in case I object to people wearing animal byproducts? Afterall, wouldn't your face be red if you didn't find out til you showed up and had to disgrace my house by sitting at my dinner table in your beer-stained Return of the Jedi t-shirt?
