Diablo's food advice is good, but I would take it a step further:
Eliminate all simple carbs from your diet that aren't found in fruits. No more candy, regular soda, cake, etc. Try that for two months and do not gorge on other things and you are almost guaranteed to lose weight.
Don't judge in moderation at all -- this is most people's downfall -- just make a categorical rule of "this is what I will not eat."
After two months apply the same thing to fried foods and you'll have yourself a clean diet and be on the way to good health.
