Sickest read I've ever seen

We have a regular tuesday night .50/1.00 NL game.

Last night there was a play that I'm still shaking my head over.

One of our guys got pretty good and drunk and pretty wild. The only issue with this was that he was slowing down the game so much that we had to keep calling the clock on him, it got to the point where it was taking about 40 minutes to make a nine handed orbit. He was also running incredibly hot, despite calling or raising PF with trash, making huge overbets, and calling down with little or nothing.

So in this one hand, the guy to my left, lets call him Bud, isolates Drunk-Guy with a pre-flop raise. The flop comes Q-x-x rainbow. Bud makes a nice bet at it and drunk-guy comes over the top pretty big.

Bud thinks about it for a bit and drunk guy starts going if you can beat a queen, call. Bud thinks some more, and drunk guy goes seriously, I've got a queen here. Now I've seen drunk guy lie about his hand on occaision, but I've also seen him tell the truth and everytime he's told me what he's had and I've seen it, he's been telling the truth. He's saved me a lot of money in hands, particularly when he's drunk. So I put him 80% or better to be telling the truth about his hands.

Bud says no way do you have a queen, and goes all-in for about 200 hundred more (there's maybe 60 or seventy in the pot) and Bud has drunk guy slightly covered. Drunk guy, of course goes way off, and starts talking about his queen, asking how much Bud has in savings and offering to make a side bet for any amount of money that he has a queen. (Drunk guy is one of the few players with money in this game, its pretty heavy on college students).

Bud says he has no money in the bank and his bet is the 200 bucks that he's just pushed in that drunk-guy doesn't have a queen. Drunk guy spends several minutes trying to get Bud to make a side bet on whether he has a queen or not.

Ok, if you're still with me, here comes the sick part. Bud, says several times: Look, I know you don't have a queen.

Finally Bud says "Man, I know you don't have a queen" and Bud flips his hand face up showing....K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].

Ok, in case you don't remember the board is Q-x-x rainbow, no spades. The only relationship Bud's hand has to the board at all is his runner runner straight draw and one overcard. His read isn't just that drunk guy doesn't have a queen, its that he can't even beat K high.

About 2 minutes later, after plenty of trash talking at Bud about what a great hand drunk-guy has, drunk guy folds. (And no, he wasn't so drunk that he thought Bud had somehow hit the flop).

Sick, absolutely sick.

Edit: In the commotion that followed, Bud just shrugged at all the commentary and said: "I knew he didn't have shit."
