Re: What would you do if you won $47 Million?
phb,
Two things.
#1: I know many people who have had $50-100M+ windfalls extensively covered in the media. Most all of them just continued on with their lives as normal the next day without any worry of kidnapping or robbery or whatever.
#2: How I would treat my family has nothing at all to do with how much media coverage there was. I'm lucky enough to have parents who would do anything for their children and a sister who would do anything for me. When I'm in a position to let them have no financial concern ever again in their life, that's what's going to happen. I am surely not going to lie to them and try to help them less than I'm able. IMO it's a pity you don't feel the same way towards your family, but I realize that I have been very lucky and fortunate in this respect. I'm also lucky to have other close friends and relatives that I would feel overjoyed to do things for beyond giving them prime rate loans.
