Well, I don't know about 2.5BB, but I regularly raise only 3BB UTG regardless of my hand. I don't think the FE is all that much different than a 4BB raise for anyone except the blinds. Different, but not much at all.

And I'm definitely not going to raise AA to 4BB but my other hands to 3BB from UTG. I still play about 22% of my hands from UTG, and I open with a raise 99% of the time.
