[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] The guys on TV called Minh Ly "Lee", but Doyle called him "Lie". So which is it? [/ QUOTE ] They constantly called him MING LEE and its pronounced "min lie". Fck, there isn't even a G in his first name, how did they get MING?? [/ QUOTE ] You're absolutely wrong, Photoc. A lot of idiots in this thread should just chill out and stop trying to pretend they know how to pronounce Minh Ly. They don't. Doyle's wrong, most of this thread is wrong. Mike Sexton is right, and so is Ming Ly, who, like Sexton, pronounces his own name correctly. "ming-lee" Chinese names when converted to the English alphabet often don't read phonetically, and that confuses ignorant Americans. For example, the dog shih-tzu is pronounced "sher-dza" but that's hardly common knowledge. The moral of the story is: learn what you're talking about before you arrogantly laugh at professionals who have clearly done more research than you have. |
