If you like The Stranger then you should also read "The Plague" by Camus. That's my favorite of his novels.

If you enjoy historical fiction I highly recommend Flashman by George Macdonald Fraser. It is Victorian era satire about a British soldier and gentlemen who happens to be a huge [censored]. He lies, cheats, beats women, etc... The books are very well researched and very well written. There are 11 more of them if you like the first one.

I think you'd like Ken Follet. My favorite of his is "The Man From Saint Petersburg", but I've liked everything of his I've read.
