Trying to cover ground that hasn't already been... I haven't seen mention of any of those Pat Robinson preacher shows. Lawrence Welk was "trippy". There are many shows that I didn't seem more of then an ad or a few minutes -- a handful of "long running shows" in this thread I've never even heard of. America's Funniest Home videos I saw once, and felt vaguely embarrassed. Little House on the Prarie seemed like a really bad idea -- that reminds me of the Merlin Olsen thing I never saw.
Anyway. I tend to change the channel when I don't find things entertaining. And it seems kind of against the rules to mention a show that I watched but which clearly doesn't hold up (Love Boat + Fantasy Island was appointment TV at one point). Oh, and I can't see how Hee Haw, painful as it was, fits in at all. |

Saved by the Bell is the hands-down winner IMO. Before you get defensive out of nostalgia, go back and watch some episodes: it was awful. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah buts its a daytime teen comedy, I wouldn't expect anythign other than awful. Besides if we go there it opens the world of Soaps to the discussion. In which case the answer is "Passions". |

This is the dumbest thread I have ever read on 2+2. Not the OP, topic, or concept, but the average intelligence of the posts.
Mentioning Seinfeld or The Simpsons should be an instaban. Saying that 70s show, buffy, King of the Hill, Will and Grace, or pretty much any modestly rated show from the last 20 years is similiarly ridiculous. The winner is going to be some idiotic show from the 60s or 70s, or some long running show on PBS or WB or Oxygen or Cartoon Network that noone here has seen more then once. When asked this question, pretty much everyone should say "i dont know, because I have never watched it long enough to make an informed judgement". |

You guys have no idea how lucky you are not to live in australia. At 6:30pm every weeknight we get 'Neighbours', and at 7pm we get 'Home & Away'. These are terrible local soaps that mass produce singers and wannabe singers. For some reason these shows are shown in many places around the world. Not even god knows why.
Edited to add, these shows have been running for a couple of decades. Unbelievable. |

I think that the Simpsons gets some mention, as it has been both the best show on TV and the worst for multiple year periods. [/ QUOTE ] Truth. Those middle seasons (8-10 maybe) were horrible and it pained me to see so many people in denial about it. "Let's see how ignorant, oblivious, and lame Homer can be in situation X. It'll be comedy gold!" Hooray for loss of creative control. |

I nominate a bunch of really popular TV shows that aren't actually that bad but I'm just not particularly interested in them.

"Three's Company"
I swear it was the same plot repeated over and over again. Every show was based on some sort of "misunderstanding" among the characters. |
