I'm several missions into Ghost Recon, and it's a must buy. Fight Night's a must buy too if you're into boxing and have Live, otherwise I'd just rent since single player is weak. Stay away from Perfect Dark, and make sure to pick up Geometry Wars on Live Arcade.

I just got the 360 also and Call of Duty 2 with it. It's a must have, awesome single player and when the upcoming patch comes out an even more awesome multiplayer.

[/ QUOTE ] Wait, the multiplayer patch still hasn't come out? It was rumored to come out 'any day now' back when I first got the game, and this was back in January. Don't hold your breath. |

These are the games I have:
Need for Speed: Most Wanted - Just got it, and if I hadn't also just gotten Ghost Recon, it's probably all I'd be playing. Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter - Just got it, and if I hadn't also just gotten NFS:MW, it's probably all I'd be playing. Both of the above have great graphics, look great in HD, and have great single-player components... haven't really tried the multiplayer for either very much. Ridge Racer 6 - This was all I was playing until I got the above two. The single player gets a little reptitive, but my roommate and I were both working our way through the single player levels and it helped keep us competitive on the multiplayer challenges, which are great for a quick game. King Kong - Haven't gotten very far in it but I'm not nearly as impressed with it as most people seem to be. Typical very linear movie-based game. Nothing special about the graphics or playability or anything from my point of view. Tiger Woods PGA Tour '06 - Just like the previous version but updated for new levels of graphics and detail and so on. If you like golf games, you'll like it. Nice that it has a gambling component built in for us degenerate gamblers. NHL 2K6 - Haven't played it very much but it seems like previous versions but w/ updated graphics/detail and a few new features (bullet time goalie stuff which I haven't actually successfully triggered yet). If you like Hockey, you'll like it. Fight Night: Round 3 - Pretty much agree with the other players on here.. so-so single player, great heads up. Project Gotham Racing 3 - Very solid racing game, much like the previous versions (with Kudos points and all that) but a great selection of cars and tracks, etc. Online multiplayer is hella fun. Kameo: Elements of power - This was one of the first games I got and I was really impressed with it both from a visual perspective as well as from a playability point of view. I think the developers went out of their way to try to harness the 360's power to do things like particle systems and whatnot and as a result almost went a little overboard with some of that stuff, but the game was very enjoyable (although I beat it rather quickly, and though they try to create some replay value by leaving the world open and letting you go back and re-do certain challenges, it didn't have very much replay value for me) Perfect Dark: Zero - Everyone was on this game's nuts, so I bought it, and I was very disappointed. Perhaps I just had bad expectations, but I was expecting sort of a splinter cell sneak-around and do stealthy things type of game, but after the initial training mission you're dropped off on a peer and supposed to sneak in and take pictures of some people... they even specifically tell you not to use your gun... but then there's a guy at the end of the peer between you and the rest of where you need to be, and you can't get by without shooting him. Weak. I basically played through the first couple of missions and then abandonded it. Nothing real impressive in terms of graphics or playability from my point of view. From the Xbox Arcade I also bought: Mutant Storm: Reload - Great little throwaway type of game, and I imagine would be awesome if you were on acid and/or N20, and definitely if you mixed the two. Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved - Same review as Mutant Storm. Marble Blast Ultra - Fun Marble Madness type of game. A friend of mine also brought over Full Auto, which I didn't play much, but seemed like it could be fun. It kinda seems like the fun might wear off fast though. Probably best as a multiplayer game after you've had a few beers. He also had DOA 4 which was fine, but basically exactly what I'd expect out of the next in the DOA series, with nothing especially impressive about the graphics or playability. I'm really hoping a good fighting game comes out for Xbox 360 that blows me away like Soul Calibur did on the Dreamcast. |
