micro, not at all retarded, and thats why IMO you dont raise this river unless you're confident that you have at least a pretty good idea of a river pushing range. Ill go into more detail in a few minutes, im hungry right now.

I'm beginning to question my standard play in spots like this. Villain is 31/24/5 over 30 hands.

Full Tilt Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.50/$1 Blinds - 6 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter)

SB: $121.30
BB: $83.95
UTG: $177.70
Hero (MP): $100.00
CO: $76.90
BTN: $99.00

Preflop: Hero is dealt J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (6 Players)
UTG folds, Hero raises to $4.00, 3 folds, BB calls $3.00

Flop: ($8.50) 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 Players)
BB checks, Hero bets $6.00, BB raises to $18.00, Hero ???

blackize,

With his stack anything you do is going to be pretty committing.

He could have a draw, a set, or top pair here. You are probably a little favorite over his range. Will he get the money in with enough of his range? Really hard to say. I see people get it in here with A8 all the time, but you don't have to discount his weaker hands a whole lot before you're in bad shape.

It's not like you were a button raiser and he's putting you on crap. It's not like you've been playing him for a long time and cbetting the hell out of him.

Still 31/24 doesn't look like a set miner.

shrug

re: JJ hand - 31/24/5, even over 30 hands, is enough for me to get it all in there.

you stack 99/TT, and villain could have a bunch of other stuff as well.

Yeah I realized after I posted it that aside from folding there is basically no wrong answer. If the board is drier, say rainbow, I take it I have to try to get to showdown on the cheap?

Villain is a drooler, he just got his stack from this hand

SB checks, Hero bets $40.00, SB raises all-in to $206.60, Hero calls $166.60

Hero had Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and LOST (-$230.60)

on to the hand in question:
Poker Stars - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $3/$6 Blinds - 5 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter)

Preflop: Hero is dealt A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5 Players)
UTG calls $6.00, Hero raises to $24.00, BTN folds, SB raises all-in to $947.20, 2 folds, Hero

i guess this may be an ez call but i honestly havent seen someone do this in so long i had no clue what kind of range to give him.
