Grievous wasn't force sensitive. He was just trained w/ lightsabers and abnormally fast because he's mostly machine.

The life on Yoda's planet is what blocked them from seeing Yoda, not necessarily the dark side cave (which also helped, but wasn't the main reason).

Vader was not even part of the military in ep 3 or 4. He was there on behalf of the Emperor. Once Luke was found he began being the head of the Empire behind the Emperor.

Return of the Jedi is the Jedi as a whole and isn't Luke or Anakin. Same w/ Revenge of the Sith. And it was supposed to be named Revenge of the Jedi and the posters that have that are worth a ton.

Yeah, SW nerd, read through most of the books up until about 25-28 yrs after ep 6. Really good for the SW geek in everyone.

Ahh thanks for clarifying!

Speaking of respect, I was reading about why
Boba Fett was so revered/respected by Vader.
(He was so insistent that Fett would be
compensated for Solo if he died in freezing, etc.)

Fett was also like the Pimp of Jabba's bounty-hunters.
What book(s) outline why he is so respected/feared?

I'm a question
Wrapped inside an enigma
Get inside the slave one
Find your homing signal

From Endor to Hoth
Ripley to Spock
I'll find what you want
But there's gonna be a cost

See, my name is Boba Fett
I know my [censored] is tight
Start not actin'right
You're frozen in carbonite

Got telescopic sight
Flame throwers on my wrist
You still don't get the gist
Spiked boots are made to kick

Targets are made to hit
You think I give a [censored]
Yo mama is a bitch
I see you in the Sarlaac Pit

You just flipped my switch
Integrity been dissed
You scratchin' on my itch
You know I shoot to get

Got bambinas at cantinas
Waitin' to lick my lusty lips
So I'll let you get back inside
Your little space ship

Give you a head start
'Cause I'm the sportin' kind
Consider the starting line
The sneaky smile I hide inside

Hope you have hyper drive (drive)
pray to stay alive ('live)
Don't try to slip me a five
'Cause I never take a bribe

To the beat of a different drummer
Bad ass bounty hunter
Let no man put asunder
Or else they be put under

As in six feet
Got an imperial fleet
Backin' me up, gonna blow up
Any attempt to defeat

They gotta death star
Got four payments on my car
Hand it over to hammer head
At Mos Eisley bar

He used to carjack
Now he's a barback
Just goes to show how you can
Get back on the right track

As for me that's not an option
Can't say that with more clarity
Me going legit would be like
Jar Jar on speech therapy

My backpack's got jets
Well I'm Boba the Fett
Well I bounty hunt for Jabba Hutt
To finance my 'Vette

Also, afaik in ep. 4 it wasn't like Vader was 2nd in command for the whole empire. I remember the scene as moff guy as head honcho in the room, vader number 2 (although obviously special connection to the emperor).

[/ QUOTE ]

That's my point. Vader was second in command in episodes 3, 5, and 6. Why wasn't he second in command in 4?

[/ QUOTE ]

god im a nit.

think of it as duel hierarchies- kind of like a SS and wehrmacht. vader is 2nd in the quasi-religous force driven sith heirarchy, but not necessarily the same for the regular military. In fact, he doesn't really have military rank.

[/ QUOTE ]

Let's use a modern example. Dick Cheney is the Vice-President and isn't in the Navy. Do you think some random Captain in the Navy would start shooting off at the mouth at him?

And contrast the behavior of Tarkin and the random dude with Episode 5: everyone on the Star Destroyer, even the Admirals and Captains, were scared to death of Vader.

As my 5 year old is apt to ask, "How did Darth Vader build a second death star?"

"Well, he must have had a lot of people help him"

"But they were all killed on the first death star"

uh.... right.

well, a lot of them at least. Vader was the only survivor- must have jacked up his standing in the empire some.

The guy hand picked by the Emperor to be his right-hand man needs to rely on a bunch of people dying in battle to get a promotion?

Vader defeated Sidious where Luke, Yoda, Windu
could not.

Except that Windu was kicking his ass until Anakin stepped in to save him.
