[ QUOTE ] Dude, I can knock off a fifth on a good night. No, I ain't balla enough for a $30 / day habit. [/ QUOTE ] When your skin starts turning yellowish in your 30s you'll wish your liver problems had been caused by better whiskey because by then it will be too late. [/ QUOTE ] i think roundguy is like, in his 40's. would be awesome though if he could drink himself back to his 30's. gimme some of that youth elixir please. |

A local guy to us in Northern Ireland is just about to start selling his new Irish whiskey blend in the US. Over here, it's aimed at trying to get the younger drinkers to drink whiskey instead of the alcopops that seem to be taking over and ruining everyone's palate.

[/ QUOTE ] Meh, I'm 43 and no problems yet. A whole fifth is only occasional, not a regular occurance. I guess 3/4 of a bottle would be an average night. Seriously, can different whiskeys affect your health differently? I guess I never thought about it much. |

There was a bit in that Wikipedia entry that said:
"The health benefits of drinking alcohol in moderation (better health and greater longevity) commonly associated with wine appear to apply also to whisky. Most researchers now believe that the beneficial substance is the alcohol itself—although it has not been ruled out that other components in the beverages are also responsible for the beneficial effects." Maybe you should stop reading there, though, as the next bit goes on to say: "However, excessive consumption of any form of alcohol can negatively impact almost all of the body's essential systems, particularly the liver. Furthermore the frequent consumption of strong spirits, such as whisky, significantly increases a person's chance of contracting head and neck cancers." |
