Any UK guys got any good recommendations for laptops?

Going to Uni next month and need to get a laptop. I want to spend £400-500 and want it to be good for poker (anyone know about playing poker in halls??). Obviously the resolution may not be great at this price, but I may take a monitor with me (advisable?).

Anyone with laptop buying experience or experience in london halls of residence - advice would be greatly appreciated.

my best advice would to just get a desktop. i have been to uni twice and both times have had no need for my laptop really. I would only get a laptop if you plan on going home alot at weekends or plan on taking it to lectures/campus with you. If you arent going home too often the extra effort of moving the desktop is well worth it imo.

with regards to playing poker in halls you should be fine. uni internet is usually completely unblocked and very reliable but of course that is very university dependent

Lol downswingaments.... I can't even beat NL50 right now.

I'm seriously gonna move down to NL10 and move up only once I'm up 10 buyins there. Then NL25 until I'm up 10 buyins and so forth until I'm back and kicking at NL200... It's gonna frustrate the hell out of me but the discipline should do nothing but good.

Yeah guess it sums up as the old saying; "some day you'll run worse than you ever tought possible"

At least after a short session I now feel like I crush NL10. It's funny, I've never played NL10 with a HUD before. Nearly every player has fish stats lol.

hang in there dl, that looks really tough to take. Maybe you should just take a break alltogether.

Your brain is a muscle and it needs a break every now and then if you feel that the downswing is bothering you, you shoudl just take a break and get a good night sleep... you will do so much better after that.
