Pretty dumb, just calling UTG was a smooth move though, I like to do that. Then, unsatisfyingly seeing no raises, the flop comes. Clubs with a possible straight, and you check. Then the turn comes a blank and you decide to bet, little late though, could've bet on the flop with someone holding a high club or a ten, then the straight appears and you check again, I'd probably bet it like I had it.

[/ QUOTE ]i've just been screwed too many times by limping early with kings. they never seem to raise after you when you want them to. people are weary of the utg limp.

Welcome to 2+2. You would get more responses if you were to post this under micro stakes full ring NL.

Also, it may help us to understand your thinking if you were to post your thoughts for each street. I'm not sure why you limped UTG. At these levels, you would be better off playing straight forward poker. PF, it should have been a 3 bet, if not 4 bet. Pocket kings are vulnerable to multiple callers.

On the flop, you should have bet to see where you are and if raised you are probably beat. That would be a good time to fold. In this case, I tend to think villan probably flopped a straight hence the check on the river as he was worried about you having a flush.

If the table raises limpers, then pre-flop is fine if you're planning a raise. Flop I think needs a bet to see where you're at. If re-raised heavy, you can let it go. There's got to be raise somewhere in there.

thanks for the replies - yeah I see that not betting the flop was real stupid - lots to learn. I believe I was leary of a flush having recently taken AA or KK to far and losing to such hands or two pair as was the case here - Jacks and Nines won - Thanks for the posting tip as well - i put it here since I am a beginer but will post these hands in the micro stakes
