[ QUOTE ] The players in good physical condition should have a clear advantage in this one. [/ QUOTE ] There isn't a single golfer in the field that the heat will have an effect on. This is simply business as usual. BO [/ QUOTE ] Interesting. I'm sure you know more about this than me. You don't think a player like Tim Herron or John Daly or Phil Mickelson is at a disadvantage in the extreme heat? |

Interesting. I'm sure you know more about this than me. You don't think a player like Tim Herron or John Daly or Phil Mickelson is at a disadvantage in the extreme heat? [/ QUOTE ] Nope for at least two reasons. One, this isn't extreme heat. The media will try to make a big deal out of it but it's probably harder on the golf course than anything. Those bent grass greens are going to be syringed frequently. Ask golfers on the Asian Tours about extreme heat and humidity. Two, as I said, this is business as usual. Many tournaments this time of year are played in warm weather. The golfers are more than used to it. They simply drink lots of fluids and perhaps don't practice as much. BO |

To be fair, there's really nowhere in the USA (other than maybe like Pacific Northwest) where there isn't a chance of it being this hot. Even this week in Chicago it's mid 90s and high humidity.

It will be a factor, enough so that meteorologists are reccomending nto to go out for too long this week here in st. louis. 115 heat or something like that here in stl. |

guids,
You should never stay out too long in StL because if you do you will likely be shot and killed. |

[/ QUOTE ] Well, you gotta remember, I played in this kind of heat constantly for 15 years through college and pro golf carrying my own bag most of the time. I never had a day where the heat got the best of me or affected my play in any way. This includes temperatures of close to 110. Sure it's hot, no question there. But it's not going to effect the players at the PGA one iota on the course. Therefore, I don't consider it extreme heat, at least for the golfers. For the elderly and/or general public with little or no A/C it's a totally different story. But as far as this golf discussion goes, this is not extreme heat. BO |
